What is your state government up to?
While Entrepreneurs always have a million things on their plates at any one time, that should not stop you from keeping a weary eye out on your state government. From the Don't Mess with Taxes blog is this entry which discusses New York's proposal to start collecting sales tax from some online companies.
It seems that every year the states are trying to tape into the online markets rich tax base. Many small retailers sell stuff either on eBay or through a website so it is important to keep track of what is happening.
An easy way to keep track is to look up the state website and see what bills are progressing through your state legislature when it is session. Also if you belong to a Chamber of Commerce or locally owned business organization make sure they are keeping track of what is happening on Capital Hill.
