For those who want to one day run their own shows, Corporate America turns out to be a pretty good training ground. The women on our list agree that their years at big companies gave them important skills they're now using as entrepreneurs. Via Business Week
I found this article from Business Week interesting because it identifies not only how well prepared women entrepreneurs are, but also how different owning a small business is from Corporate America.
My response? Well duh!

Oh my gosh you guys I don't know if you've heard of ""conversations with miollionaires"" but I just found out Jason Oman who did that book is going to be doing a new one for female entrepreneurs like us. Here's the page I came across so you can get updates about it too.

I can't wait for it because I loved his first book. I hear he's gonna have Martha Stewart, Ray Rachel, Kim Kiyosaki the wife of the guy from rich dad poor dad.

The GEM 2006 Report on Women and Entrepreneurship is a fascinating report that explores trends among women entrepreneurs around the globe. The key findings are summarized in an article I wrote for Today's Working Women (http://www.todaysworkingwomen.com)
and the article includes a link to the full 40-page report.
Interestingly, the report indicates that women are less optimistic and self-confident than men when it comes to starting a business. They also exhibit a greater fear of failure. I wonder if the actual importance of having work experience is has more to do with building up women's confidence in their abilities than in any training the job might provide. Take a look at the report and let me know what you think.
