After all, your website may be the first encounter a person has with your business and you want to ensure that it attracts customers to your site not detracts.

A rule of thumb is simple is better. Many times web design geeks will go overboard trying to incorporate every little special feature but many times they will cause your site to run slow and turn off potential customers.
