Born in Israel to a Greek father and Lebanese mother, Tom Gores is an American businessman and a self-made financier. He is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Platinum Equity which is a California based leveraged buyout business.
Tom started working early at the age of ten and continued to work throughout college. In 1986 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1995 Tom Gores created Platinum Equity with the intention of acquiring and creating significant worth in non core or underperforming divisions of Fortune 1000 corporations. It is one of the biggest and fastest growing private companies in U.S. The company has even featured on the Forbes' Largest Private Companies list for 2009. Within a short span of just fourteen years, he has converted Platinum Equity into a multi million dollar revenue base. Platinum Equity has acquired more than a hundred companies and generated $27.5 billion in annual revenue.
In 2009 he was ranked as the 334th richest person in the world by Forbes with a net worth of $2 billion.
