As the complexity of the business grows the skill sets required to control and safely manage the business expand exponentially.
One of the most difficult issues owners of successful businesses cope with, is the increasing complexity of the business when it becomes too much to handle.
Know When You Need Help
As the complexity of the business grows the skill sets required to safely manage the business expand exponentially. Therefore, the need to further educate, gather mentors and gain support is essential.
Seek Out Support
Challenge yourself to seek out entrepreneurs who have a business larger than your own. You can tap into their experience and track record in dealing with the challenges your business throws at you. You didn't build your business without the help of other people and that never changes.
Surround yourself with people that will challenge, support and motivate during difficult times. Find one person who has a similar business experience, another that has superior skills in a deficit area of your business and lastly, someone who can just be supportive and knows nothing about your business. The different skills of these people, their experiences and perspectives will provide you with a great sounding board. They will enrich your life and cause you to grow.
First, Ask For The Right Questions
Extracting value from a relationship with a mentor requires you being willing to hear and answer tough questions. Don't go looking for someone with the answers to your problems. Look for someone who'll ask you the right 'questions'. A good question will cause you to think and see things in a new light. Sometimes knowing the right question is all you need. A good question will ultimately lead to finding the right answer.
