Steps in a Business Plan

I saw a piece recently by Harriet Cohen that took a look at how to flesh out the steps in a business plan.

Harriet looks at mission, vision, market, and financial aspects of a plan in some detail. She describes:

...the outline of a basic plan, which is all you need unless you are going to seek funding. This type of plan helps you clarify your reason for going into business, your purpose, your product, your market and your desired revenue. Most important, it helps you identify areas where you may need assistance and it enables you to think through the process before you start, which can save you money and problems.

It's a very useful and thought-provoking document - if you're writing your first business plan.
