How good is your public relations program?

Public Relations is very important to new businesses and especially small businesses in general. Public Relations can be anything from getting a mention in the newspaper to being asked to speak on a subject you are an expert at.

One of the easiest ways I have found for new business to get some good Public Relations is from neighborhood newspapers and business journals. We have a neighborhood journal that goes out to all the addresses in area and they have a section for new start up companies. While this may not get well read, it does get your name out to the community. In the same way the local businesslinks journal usually has a section to announce new start ups which allows other business owners to learn about you.

The only downside of business journals is that some like my local one, charges businesses for everything including publishing about start ups.

The Instigator Blog has some more ideas for your public relations efforts.
