Biz Opportunities
by Greg Balanko-Dickson on May 14, 2007

The biggest and best reason to be 'in' business is the huge opportunity it offers for personal expression. To build a business that reflects you in what you believe, what you do, and who you do it with and for. Before you dismiss what I am saying is dribble - wait, cause this will screw with your mind.
Either Do Your Own Thing (With Your Business) or Get Out!
I mean really why would you even bother to start, buy or run a business that did not allow you to reflect your values in it? Entrepreneurs have many reasons used by to justify being in business but most reasons are crap.
Become Unreasonable, Listen to Your Own Voice
Stop giving yourself freaking reasons why you cannot be happy, fulfilled, and successful.
Stop listening to everyone else. Listen to yourself. Trust your intuition and get into action by thinking about possibilities instead of reasons why it will not work.
Unfortunately, the term 'Business Plan' has come to be defined as, "How I plan not to fail." This is a huge issue because planning not to fail is negative.
Screw It! Think Possibilities
Business owners are optimists who have an ability to identify gaps in a market, figure out how to fill it, then evaluate what they should do. The reason they can identify these unmet needs is that they have a keen ear for what is going on around them.
Balance External Influences by Becoming Internally Directed
Yet, the greatest battle business owners will fight is to follow their own voice. An external focus generally serves business owners well because it keeps them in touch with the needs of a market. If they not careful, business owners can become so externally focused that they end up ignoring their own 'voice' (read intuition) and needs. This leads to frustration, isolation, and sometimes failure. Failure in marriages, relationships, and even business bankruptcy.
Balance
The antidote is to begin focusing on your own (internal) needs, thoughts, and motivations first. Then include the various external 'Voices' to balance the inner and outer influences.
Not only will you enjoy the business more but you will also be better prepared to serve the market.
