Cluttered Offices, Clutter Minds?
I have discussed how important it is to have a clutter free work environment. However, what about your mind?
It seems that we are often got some much going in our minds we have difficulties dealing with all of it. While our minds are a wonderful complicated machine, it is clear that things can get crowed up their and hurt our productivity.
Just last night, I could not sleep because my mind was going a million miles an hour. I was worried about the speech I have to give on Friday; I was thinking about the topic of my next speech, I was thinking about my goals for the week and if I was accomplishing them, and so on.
Recently I have been reading the book Everything about Zen. In the book, the author discuses about meditation and how it can clear the mind. I have never been one to do meditation but I have done Zig Ziglar's method of spending 20 or so minutes in quite thought. However, I have actually tried sitting and mediating for 15 minutes or so a day to clear my head and it has been working well. The first couple of times I tried it, I found I was more relaxed, had more energy, and was able to accomplish more throughout the rest of the day.
