Marketing Opporunity: Speaking

When is the last time you did any public speaking?

The Sales and Sales Management blog has an entry discussing one of the most little used forms of marketing and that is speaking. There is many opportunities for you to get out and speak in front of people whether it be for the chamber of commerce or a community event. Every time you speak it is an opportunity for you to get your name out and promote your business.

Now I know that speaking in front of people is the number fear of many people. However let me tell you of my experience. I used to be very quite and shy and if I got up in front of people I would start to stutter and forget most of what I was planning to talk about.

That is were the organization Toastmasters came to the rescue. I was a member of the college division of toastmasters for about a year but still had trouble speaking in public. Then I started my consulting business and knew I would need to speak in front of people to be a success so I joined a regular Toastmasters club, in fact I joined two of them.

My public speaking abilities have improved immensely and I have now made a major presentation in Miami.

I encourage every one to consider Toastmasters to improve their public speaking. Then when the opportunity prevails itself you can jump in and not only give a great speech, you can effectively promote your business.
