What kind of invoicing software do you use?
The Bootstrapping Blog which always has some great suggestions, has a listing of 20 on line invoicing sites could help you make up invoices while you are getting started.
One of the most common and well know ways to produce invoices is to use a software such as QuickBooks. While QuickBooks does offer some wonderful features, the price can be a little hard from some small businesses to swallow when you first are getting started although the price is getting lower all the time.
Another alternative is to use one of the lesser know software packages. Many office or computer stores offer lower price options to QuickBooks. However before spending the money on any of the alternatives I would check with any marketing partners that may be using the software to see how it works. I have found that many of the cheaper alternatives to QuickBooks are not easy to use and create more hassle than they are worth. Of the 10 or so I have had the opportunity to try out there is not one of them that was worth the effort.
I would suggest going through the list provided by Bootstrapper and once again go through them, see how they work, how easy they are and what features they have to insure that the site will work for you in the long term.
Remember to find one that will be easy for you to use and that has all the features that you need today and will need for the foreseeable future.
