Human Resources: Avoid the Puppet on a String Syndrome
Filed in archive Human Resources on June 25, 2007
With the shortage of qualified workers growing, keeping those who are performing well is crucial to minimize disruptions to your business operations.
How would you rate your relationship with your staff? What about the people you outsource or sub-contract services to? I bet you tend to take them for granted. Not that you do not care about them, rather if they work from home or their office "Out of Sight, out of mind" as the saying goes.
It can easily become a slippery slope and forget important details - don't let that happen. Sub-contractors and outsourced service workers have families too. Remember to pay them and renew their contract.

You make a good case for building the relationship with the subcontractor. In many cases, it falls on the subcontractor to do so, but it behooves a company to do the same in return. You're only as good as your support staff, and if that's weak, God help you.
