40 years of low prices pay off for WinCo; Eagle store opens
From the idaho statesman, here is a nice success story about a 40-year old grocery store that now covers a few states in the west.
This store is doing well despite the competition from Wal-Mart and here are some ideas from the article:
-The store knows its niche and is not trying to be all things to all people. It is focusing on families, it is not trying to be a high end player and it is not catering to senior citizens.
-It also discusses their worry about Wal-Mart and how they overcame them.
-The store promotes from within and actively tries to move people up the ladder
So take a look at the article as it does have some great information for today's small business owner.
