I have a friend who lives in a rural community in the Midwest. He sells lawn care products and provides landscaping services. He was making ends meet.

Then one day the town council decided to put in a little league baseball field. It was a big deal in a little town, but there wasn't much of a budget. And at the end of construction it turn out to be more of a mud hole than a baseball field.

My friend doesn't have kids at home anymore, but he decided that he could donate a little time and effort (and some grass seeds) to try and make the field more pleasant to use.

Call it karma if you like. Or if you prefer a more Christian framework, Galatians says we reap what we sow (forgive the pun). Suddenly my friend's business was up by 15% or so…
