Do you have your domain names registered?
Brent Leary over at the Small Business Trends blog goes over trying to get a domain name registered.
These days it is becoming more difficult in find the right domain name. Many domain names have been registered by people looking to make a quick buck or those who used it for a while and no longer need it but are looking to make money off of it.
I tried to register my name John Dornoff on a few occasions. Now with a name like that you would think it would be easier to get than most but I found it had already been registered. As a matter of fact it is actually registered by someone named John Dornoff and it's not me. Come to find out this guy is in Ann Arbor, Michigan which means we are probably related somehow since both of my parents came from the Michigan area.
I found another one to register but need something close to my name since I do speaking and want a website about my speaking and other information.
One thing I suggested previously was coming up with as many variations as you can think of and trying those. You may not get the exact one you want but you can get ones that are close. Just remember to find something that is easy to figure out.
Even if you don't plan to start a website right away, be sure to register your domain name quickly so that no one else gets a hold of it.
