If you have owned a business since 1989 then the SBA states that you are more likely to be a high income earner and high Wealth owners. For example, small business owners mean income in 2004 was $142,559 whereas families that did not own a business had income of $56,046.
Mean wealth of business owners in 2004 was $933,779 and $256,041 for those who did not won a business.
Small business owners did reasonably well by realizing increases in wealth of over 73 percent and nearly 145 percent for single and multiple business owners, respectively. (between 1989-2004)
