Debit Card Transactions

Filed in archive Financial by John Dornoff on November 28, 2007

I have mentioned before the Straight Pass Blog, and now they have another great blog entry that can save you as the merchant money.

Debit Card Transactions
Last time we talked about the importance of sliding the card instead of entry the number manually. Now they talk about how having a pin debit can save you much more money.

Now if your average transaction is under $25.00 this will not be saving you money but if your store sees lots of big transaction you can save substantial money by using a debit pin pad instead of running something as a credit.

In blog uses an example of a $150.00 transaction. The fee by credit car would be $2.88 but the debit pin rate would only be $.50 so you save $2.38. Now not ever card can be run as a debit and some people rather run it as a credit, but if you can turn half of your debit customers to using the pin pad imagine what savings you could see.

Run the numbers with your financial person or bookkeeperlinks and see if this would benefit you and your business.
