Are you cutting corners in places you shouldn't?

The Babe of Business blog has a listing of three places that you should not cut corners when it comes to being economical.
While she has a good list I am going to list my number one that she did not put down and that is customer service. Customer's service is the one area that sets you apart from your competitors. While you cannot promote that fact that you have better customer service, your customers will notice and will tell their friends so word of mouth is more important in this case.
Just look at the current situation of one of the major retailers that has been in the news lately. The CEO of the company is proudly claiming that he is cutting store jobs but not others. However, the people who matter is the customers and they cannot get good service because the stores employees have been cut which means they are not shopping there anymore and one of the reasons why this retailer is dying.
There is ways to cut corners, but cutting corners when it comes to customer service will only cost you in the long run.
