Are you considering buying a business instead of starting one from scratch?
The Babe of Business Blog has a great entry that does a good job of pointing out the pros and cons of buying an existing business instead of starting one from scratch.
If you are considering buying a business instead of starting from scratch you need to be sure to do your homework before signing on the dotted line. If you're looking at a retail store check out the store as a customer first. See the amount of traffic the store gets and the amount of traffic. Also be sure to check with the BBB to see if the store has complaints about it and how many.
The neighborhood businesses can also be a good source of information. Find out what they think of the store and if they would buy it themselves.
If you do decide to buy a business instead of starting from scratch be sure to do your homework or you could end up on the loosing end.
