How do you plan to advertise?

Advertising
Small Business owners because of their limited finances need to find the best value for the dollar in everything they do and that includes advertising. It put ads on television is very expensive and will not necessarily do what is needed.

So what to do?

Once again you need to know your target market, what your niche is. From there you need to find out what your target market does. Do they spend lots of time on the computer? Do they participate in local events on a regular basis? Do they listen to local talk radio stations (which are becoming endangered species now)?

Once you have an idea who your customer is, you will have a better idea on how to approach your advertising. The best type of advertising for a small business is word of mouth. Make sure that everyone you know understands what you are doing and be sure that they are telling their friends.

If you are dealing with people that are part of a certain trade, you could find out if they have a local trade association and look to advertising with them. If you have a large number of customers that ride transit, then advertising with your local transit agency would be an idea. If your customer base includes college students you could look into advertising with the college newspaper.

Also check with some of your fellow small business owners and see what they do for advertising.

Thebizblog has ideas to make your advertising more effective so take a look over there also.
